Personal Protective Equipment

As of late July 2020 the availability of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment has stabilized and there appears to be a reliable pipeline from commercial and governmental sources.

Donated PPE would not be declined by iCare. We would instead gauge our own need at that time and decide on its best use to serve the greatest good. Thank you for your consideration.

Skilled Nursing Providers in Connecticut are in need of the following items:

  • N95 Respirator Masks

  • Face shields or goggles
  • Disposable face masks
  • Surgical masks with or without face shields
  • Other PPE such as disposable gowns

To donate any of the above items, home sewn or otherwise, please contact

If you or your organization have access to PPE that can be appropriately made available and donated during this crisis, please consider contacting us so that we may use if for care providers in the skilled nursing setting. If iCare is in a position to be able to donate PPE on to another organization in need we will do so. There are still many.

This would include nail salons, hardware stores, tattoo parlors, school nurses, pest control, auto body shops, painters, industrial applications, and more. We would like to put out a plea to them to donate any excess, spare or expired PPE they may have on hand to be used in the skilled nursing setting.

Homemade Hand Sewn Masks

We have also received offers and inquiries of hand sewn, homemade Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as a way to add to the supply. The Centers for Disease Control does sanction this practice and offers guidance, pointing out that fabric masks are an option once supply levels become critical.

Materials should be a 100% unused cotton fabric front – no metallic fabrics.  And a 100% cotton or cotton flannel back. 1/4” or 3/8” flat elastic should be used for straps.
