HARTFORD, CT (September 23, 2025) – Parkville Care Center proudly joined the Greater Hartford community on Sunday, marching in the 2025 CICD Puerto Rican Day Parade. The annual event, organized by the Connecticut Institute for Community Development (CICD), is a vibrant celebration of Puerto Rican culture and heritage, drawing thousands of participants and spectators to Hartford’s streets. Parkville Care Center and iCare Health Network have been proud supporters of CICD have marched in the parade for several years.
For Parkville Care Center, located in the heart of Hartford’s Parkville neighborhood in the south end, the parade is more than a cultural event – it is a chance to celebrate with residents, families, staff, and community partners. The care center is home to a large Hispanic and Puerto Rican population, and the team has long recognized the importance of cultural connection in healthcare.
Through its Hispanic Cultural Program, Parkville Care Center provides tailored programming, bilingual services, and events that embrace cultural traditions. The program helps residents feel truly at home, surrounded by familiar language, food, music, and celebrations that honor their heritage.
“Marching in the Puerto Rican Day Parade is always a highlight of the year,” said Jen Johnson, Parkville Care Center’s Administrator. “It’s a way for us to celebrate with our community while showing our residents and families that their culture and identity are central to the care we provide.”
The parade brought together staff, families, and supporters in a display of unity and joy, with Parkville’s team walking proudly alongside community organizations, local leaders, and cultural groups. The streets of Hartford were filled with music, dance, and the warmth of tradition – a spirit that mirrors the daily life and mission inside Parkville Care Center.
