iCare Health Network, Supporters and Stakeholders Celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of 60 West

May 24, 2023

ROCKY HILL (May 24, 2023) – On May 11, 2023 the team at 60 West and from iCare Health Network celebrated the tenth anniversary of the opening and commencement of operations of 60 West in Rocky Hill.

60 West is the first long term care nursing center for the justice involved population and individuals that are otherwise challenging to transition and place in an appropriate site of care. In 2012, the State of Connecticut issued a Request for Proposal titled “Nursing Home For Individuals In State Care Who Are Difficult To Place”.

iCare Health Network submitted a response to the request which resulted in a engagement with the State of Connecticut to establish nursing home care for individuals in state care and the center opened to its first resident in May of 2013. The care center is currently full at 95 residents with a wait list and is looked at and treated as a model and gold standard in this type of care.

On behalf of iCare Health Network we would like to express our deep gratitude to all of our partners within state government in Connecticut for their vision, unwavering support and ongoing commitment to 60 West and its mission of serving the underserved. We would also like to thank those that make it happen on a daily basis; the skilled, compassionate and all around excellent staff of 60 West who truly make it happen every single day.

The anniversary celebration included food and music, a slide show of 60 West through the years and brought together stakeholders who were critical to the success of the program and the care center.

Many of 60 West’s original supporters and individuals critical to its creation and success, from state and local government and beyond, were in attendance. This included representatives from the Office of Policy and Management, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Department of Corrections, Department of Public Health and more.

Speakers included Rocky Hill Mayor Lisa Mariotta, Rhianna Gingras of the CT Department of Corrections, Erin Leavitt-Smith from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Department of Public Health Commissioner Manisha Juthani, MD, iCare President and CEO Chris Wright and iCare’s Jessica DeRing. Attendees also heard from Frank Gilotti, a 60 West resident who shared the deep impact and change the 60 West family has brought to his life.

A big thank you as well to our partners at Healthcare Services Group and Optum for graciously donating food and entertainment items for the event.
