MANCHESTER, CT (March 12, 2026) – iCare Health Network is pleased to announce that with this week’s opening of an on-site dialysis unit at Parkville Care Center in Hartford, both Westside Care Center in Manchester and Parkville are now offering fully operational on-site dialysis units for their short term and long term residents. The opening of these specialized programs represents a significant step forward in expanding access to advanced clinical services within the skilled nursing environment.
For residents who require regular dialysis treatments, the ability to receive care directly within their nursing center greatly improves comfort, coordination, and overall quality of life. Rather than traveling to outside dialysis clinics several times each week, residents can now receive treatment in a familiar setting while remaining closely connected to their care team.
Westside Care Center’s On-Site Dialysis Unit
At Westside Care Center, a newly constructed dialysis unit launched in August and is already serving a large cohort of residents. The six-chair unit has the capacity to serve up to 36 residents through multiple daily treatment shifts.
Dialysis treatments are delivered by licensed professionals in partnership with DaVita, one of the nation’s leading kidney care providers. The program allows residents receiving short-term rehabilitation or long-term care to integrate dialysis treatments seamlessly with nursing services, therapy sessions, dietary support, and daily medical monitoring.
For many individuals with chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease, frequent transportation to off-site dialysis centers can be physically taxing and disruptive to rehabilitation schedules. By providing dialysis on-site, Westside’s program reduces those challenges while supporting more consistent clinical oversight and improved care coordination.
Parkville Care Center Launches On-Site Dialysis Program
Parkville Care Center in Hartford’s historic Parkville neighborhood has also launched its own on-site dialysis unit. Located at 5 Greenwood Street, Parkville is part of iCare Health Network and offers a wide range of skilled nursing, post-acute rehabilitation, and specialty clinical programs including an All Phase Limb Loss Program and secure Memory Care.
The new dialysis service allows residents who require regular treatments to remain within the supportive environment of the care center while receiving life-sustaining therapy. Dialysis services are coordinated closely with Parkville’s clinical team—including nursing, rehabilitation therapy, nutrition services, and social work—to ensure residents receive comprehensive and integrated care.
Parkville is also known for its diverse specialty programming, including its Hispanic Culture Program designed to provide culturally responsive care to Hartford’s community. The addition of on-site dialysis further expands the center’s ability to serve residents with complex medical needs.
Expanding Access to Advanced Care
The launch of these dialysis units reflects iCare Health Network’s continued investment in specialized clinical services that allow residents to receive advanced care without leaving their nursing center.
By integrating dialysis directly into the daily care environment, residents benefit from:
-
Reduced stress and fatigue associated with transportation
-
Better coordination between dialysis, nursing, and rehabilitation services
-
More time available for therapy and recovery
-
Enhanced clinical monitoring and continuity of care
Importantly, both dialysis units are designed specifically for residents of the care centers and are not outpatient dialysis clinics open to the general public. Instead, they serve individuals who require skilled nursing or rehabilitation services alongside dialysis treatment.
Now Accepting Dialysis Admissions
With both programs now fully operational, Westside Care Center and Parkville Care Center are welcoming referrals and admissions for residents who require skilled nursing care with integrated dialysis services.
Hospital discharge planners, physicians, and families seeking coordinated post-acute care options are encouraged to contact the admissions teams to learn more about eligibility and availability.
Together, these two programs represent a significant advancement in delivering comprehensive, resident-centered care—bringing advanced renal services directly into the nursing home setting and allowing residents to receive the care they need, all under one roof.
