iCare Health Network Honors Strength and Hope During National Recovery Month

HARTFORD (September 26, 2025) – September is recognized as National Recovery Month, a time to honor the resilience, healing, and hope of individuals on the journey of recovery. Throughout the month, iCare Health Network care centers marked the occasion with meaningful celebrations, activities, and events that brought residents and staff together in support of strength and community.

At Chelsea Place, Recovery Month began on September 10 when residents and staff wore red and gathered for an outdoor picnic that brought everyone together in a spirit of unity. On September 11, the center held a moving ceremony where Dil, Social Worker and iRecovery Coordinator, spoke alongside a resident who had recently discharged and returned to share his story of strength and healing. Residents also joined in the “My Hands” workshop, a creative activity where they reflected on their recovery journeys and expressed their experiences in meaningful, lasting ways.

Trinity Hill embraced a full iRecovery Spirit Week from September 15 through September 19. The week opened with a Recovery Brunch where residents spoke about the program’s profound impact on their lives. One resident shared, “This is the longest time I have been clean in 28 years.” Another reflected, “If I wasn’t here, I would be dead. I am appreciative of the support.”

The celebration continued with a Kickoff Party featuring entertainment by Jose Paulo, hors d’oeuvres, and residents and staff dressed in their favorite band and music shirts to show that iRecovery residents truly rock. Therapeutic Tuesday brought laughter as residents and staff wore comfy clothes and performed a comedic “Scene-arios” skit, playfully dressing as one another in a parody of an iRecovery meeting. Midweek, the care center transformed into its own version of the Big E for the iRecovery Fair, where everyone came together in their wackiest outfits to enjoy games, great food, music, and sunshine.

On September 18, the Recovery Picnic featured California BBQ turkey burgers followed by an afternoon of fun with an iRecovery Game Show styled after Family Feud, ending the day with fresh-baked cookies and ice cream. The week concluded on September 19 with a Red Carpet Recognition Ceremony where residents were honored for their progress and commitment, closing the week on a powerful note of pride and inspiration.

Silver Springs celebrated on September 19 with a lively Care Center Picnic where residents and staff enjoyed live music, inspirational giveaways, and fellowship. The day also featured an artful activity where residents painted hope rocks and placed them throughout the outdoor patio, leaving behind colorful symbols of strength, resilience, and encouragement for everyone who visits the space.

Westside closed the month with a recognition ceremony on September 26 that honored the accomplishments of iRecovery residents with certificates. The celebration included hors d’oeuvres for residents and guests, and staff members wore purple in a visible display of solidarity with the recovery community.

Across all four iRecovery centers, the message was clear: recovery is possible, recovery is powerful, and recovery is worth celebrating. Whether through heartfelt testimonies, creative expression, music and laughter, or recognition ceremonies, each activity offered a reminder of the importance of support, community, and hope. This Recovery Month, our iRecovery family stood united — celebrating progress, honoring courage, and affirming that every step forward matters.
