MANCHESTER, CT (May 10, 2026) – iCare Health Network and its care centers will join organizations across the country in celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), also referred to as “Nursing Home Week”, taking place May 10–16, 2026.
This year’s theme, “Moments in Bloom,” highlights the everyday interactions, relationships, and milestones that shape life inside skilled nursing communities. From small personal victories in rehabilitation to shared laughter among residents and staff, the week is designed to recognize the meaningful moments that define care beyond clinical outcomes.
Established in 1967 by the American Health Care Association (AHCA), NSNCW is a nationwide observance that honors the vital role skilled nursing centers play in caring for older adults and individuals with complex medical needs or disabilities. The annual event also serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of caregivers and the trust placed in them by residents and families.
Across iCare’s network, care center teams are planning a range of activities throughout the week to bring the theme to life. These may include community gatherings, creative programs, and opportunities for residents and staff to connect in ways that celebrate both individuality and shared experience. While each center tailors its approach, the focus remains consistent: fostering environments where compassion, dignity, and engagement are at the forefront.
Leaders within the organization note that ‘Nursing Home Week’ is not only a time for celebration, but also for reflection on the evolving role of post-acute and long-term care. As healthcare systems continue to rely on skilled nursing providers for rehabilitation, recovery, and complex care management, the importance of these settings within the broader continuum becomes increasingly clear.
For families and community members, the week offers a window into daily life within skilled nursing centers—often revealing a setting that blends clinical expertise with a strong sense of community. It also underscores the relationships that develop among residents, caregivers, and loved ones over time.
iCare Health Network encourages the public to follow along throughout the week as its centers share highlights and stories that capture the spirit of “Moments in Bloom.” Through these glimpses, the organization aims to showcase not only the services it provides, but the people and connections that make its communities thrive.
