MANCHESTER (September 27, 2019) – September is National Recovery Month. In keeping with the themes of National Recovery Month and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Stigma Free Campaign, multiple iCare Health Network care centers have been holding celebrations of what it means to be in recovery.
In addition to their pep rally and luau, Chelsea Place held a Celebration of Recovery Dinner with special guest speakers. The care center staff pitched in to serve the meal. Chelsea residents and staff also took a day trip to Elizabeth Park to enjoy late Summer early Fall weather.
The Silver Springs team had their own Recovery Celebration in the Silver Bistro. Touchpoints at Bloomfield’s celebration was highlighted in a previous post. iCare Health Network and all its care centers made the commitment to provide a Stigma Free environment and Stigma-Free care to residents with mental illness as well as those with substance use disorder, dementia and cognitive disorders in 2018.
Many iCare care centers have encouraged all staff, residents, outside staff and other visitors to take or reaffirm the pledge to provide and support stigma-free, compassionate and non-judgmental care.
