MANCHESTER (February 14, 2018) – The Optum Commitment to Excellence Award is given to members of the Skilled Nursing Facility’s care team who exemplify United Healthcare’s cultural values of Integrity, Compassion, Relationships, Innovation, and Performance. On January 4th Optum’s clinical team was excited to recognize Westside LPN Natashia Heinecker and her commitment to these values.
According to their website, Optum, part of the United Healthcare Group is a health services and innovation company with a mission to help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone. Optum partners with several iCare managed nursing facilities to help optimize care, reduce hospital readmissions and cost, through monitoring and continuum management for specific populations. They deploy specially trained APRNs in the service of this goal.
Nominated by Heather Carter, APRN for going “above and beyond” to care and advocate for her patients. One example of Natashia being a passionate advocate with sharp assessment skills and a great communicator occurred after a patient returned from a hip fracture. The resident was having uncontrolled pain and medication side effects.
Heather stated:
“Natashia showed compassion, empathy, concern…she kept this patient’s dignity a priority while providing care, using clinical judgment and identifying adverse reactions to medication, advocating for use of PRNs, and provided education to her fellow staff members on the importance of utilizing PRNs. She is one incredible nurse.”
