MANCHESTER (March 4, 2018) – On March 3, 2018 a team from Hartford HealthCare’s Behavioral Health Network conducted a Mental Health First Aid Training for the staff of iCare managed facilities.

Those in attendance included a cross-section of social workers, nursing staff, behavioral health managers and others. The training is part of iCare’s deep and long-standing commitment to a dignified and safe resident environment and high quality behavioral health care. The program was recommended to iCare by Dr. Craig Allen, iCare’s Medical Consultant for Substance Use Disorders and board certified psychiatrist.

According to the Mental Health First Aid website, “Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that gives people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it does build mental health literacy, helping the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness.”
