We're Unstoppable: iCare Health Network Celebrates National Nursing Assistants' Day and Week, 2023

June 15, 2023

MANCHESTER (June 15, 2023) – iCare Health Network celebrates National Career Nursing Assistants Day which takes place today, June 15, 2023. It is also the first day of National Nursing Assistants’ Week, observed from June 15th to June 21st. The day and week are an annual celebrations that recognizes the invaluable contributions of Nursing Assistants in skilled nursing, long term care and other healthcare settings.

This is the 46th annual National Nursing Assistants Week, with a theme of “We’re Unstoppable” which celebrates the vital role that the nearly one million Certified Nurses’ Assistants (CNAs) and equivalents in the US play in the daily delivery of quality care and quality of life supports to our residents. Their unwavering commitment and compassionate care significantly impact the lives of both the nursing home residents and the overall healthcare system.

Nursing Assistants are the backbone of nursing homes, providing vital support to the clinical team and the residents they all serve. They are responsible for assisting residents with their daily activities, including dressing, eating, personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility which empower residents by allowing them to maintain a sense of autonomy and self-worth.

Nursing Assistants establish strong relationships with residents, providing emotional support and companionship. This aspect of their work is particularly crucial in nursing homes, as combatting isolation and loneliness among residents is a core objective of nursing care centers. By offering a listening ear and a compassionate presence, they contribute to the residents’ overall happiness and quality of life, create a comfortable and nurturing environment, and promote dignity and respect for each resident.

During National Nursing Assistants Week, it is important to acknowledge and appreciate the crucial role that nursing assistants play in the healthcare system. Nursing Assistants are critical to the operation of any skilled nursing or long term care center and iCare Health Network centers are no exception. They are irreplaceable to the day to day function of a nursing center and to each individual resident who counts on them to make their activities of daily living possible.

A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the iCare CNA team and to CNAs everywhere!
