Touchpoints at Bloomfield Delivers Breakfast to Windsor Senior Center's Summer Celebration
August 20, 2019The Touchpoints at Bloomfield Food Services team participated in Windsor Senior Center’s Summer Celebration on August 15th. Said Food Services Director Paul DeMaida, ”We prepared breakfast for 75 here at the facility and then delivered it to the senior center where we stayed to serve the local seniors. Touchpoints at Bloomfield Celebrates Shark Week
August 16, 2019The staff and residents of Touchpoints at Bloomfield had an outstanding time dunking the “shark”, Administrator Jaime Faucher. Staff and residents participated in throwing the bean bags into the sharks mouth. If they hit the target Jaime the Shark was “dunked” with very cold water by Recreation Director Cindy Payne. The week included a visit from a shark expert who spoke on a shark’s day to day life, made shark teeth necklaces and of course watched the popular 1970’s film Jaws.
Three veterans who are current residents at Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden took part in an equine therapy program through Manes and Motions, a Therapeutic Riding Center operated by Hospital for Special Care in New Britain. According to the Manes website, “riding a horse gives you freedom and empowerment through movement. A horse can be a powerful motivator in reviewing or reinforcing many behavioral, physical, mental, social and emotional goals.”
On August 10, 2019, staff and their families represented iCare at the 2019 West Indian Independence Celebration and Parade in Hartford. The iCare team marched in the parade from Main and Battles Street, ending in Bushnell Park, decked out in matching t-shirts with a One Love theme.
Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden celebrated four staff members for their extraordinary longevity with and dedication to the care center and its residents. The team presented each with a gift and flowers. Lunch was served. Employee longevity is a great testament to a quality workplace and a commitment to the teamwork needed to serve every day.
60 West Hosts A Special Wedding Event
August 7, 2019On Friday July 12th, 60 West, in conjunction with Beacon Hospice, celebrated the wedding of resident Charles to his long time partner, Libby. The wedding ceremony was held on the care center’s serene patio among family and friends of the bride and groom and was followed by a reception catered by 60 West Food Service Director Jim Scott with live music by David Allen Rivera. The menu included a variety of favorites like Jim’s mac and cheese bites and famous chicken wings.
The rain did not hold them back. Touchpoints at Bloomfield residents took a day trip to Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford to watch the Wareham Gateman play the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox as part of famous Cape League Baseball. It ended up being a beautiful and cool day for the residents on this second annual trip with the Gateman beating the Red Sox 3-2. The residents had a great time and were excited to see the Touchpoints name up on the scoreboard as the park welcomed groups to the game.
Fresh River Healthcare, a skilled nursing care center in East Windsor, will be holding a Nursing Job Fair on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 10am to 4pm. No RSVP is necessary, walk-ins are welcome and encouraged. Applicants in attendance will be entered in a raffle with prizes awarded each hour of the Fair. To respect of applicants time, interviews will be conducted on the spot. In many cases job offers will be made on the spot. Please bring two forms of ID.
