MissionCare at Holyoke 'Lights the World in Teal' to Raise Awareness and Show Support for Persons with Alzheimer's Disease

The team at MissionCare at Holyoke ‘went teal’ this week to show support for and raise awareness of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, especially the residents of the care center. Light the World in Teal is an annual program held in November as part of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. People and places around the world “go teal” to raise awareness and show support for the millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s. -
On October 31, 2023, the team at Parkville Care Center celebrated and recognized Maria Parks for her 37 years of service to the residents of Parkville, stretching back to when it was Park Place and before that, Greenwood Manor. Maria is an LPN Charge Nurse who is beloved by staff and residents and was a mentor to new nurses. She was present for the Greenwood fire in 2003 and spoke this year at the 20th anniversary remembrance ceremony. Maria’s retirement party included many emotional …

On Saturday, October 28, 2023 a team from Parkville Care Center took part in the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s - Greater Hartford and raised over $1000 for advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. The walk took place at Rentschler Field and according to the Alzheimer’s Association website in total had over 1,300 participants in 275 teams and raised $300,000 towards their goal.
