iCare Celebrates National Nurses Day and Week, 2024

MANCHESTER (May 6, 2024) – National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th with National Nurses Day and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. May 6th.

Nurses Day and Week promote nursing professionals for their dedication and commitment to advancing the health care field, while also raising awareness of the challenges they face. It is an opportunity to thank nurses for providing high-quality care to those in need every day of the year. This year’s theme, “Nurses Make the Difference,” honors the incredible nurses who embody the spirit of compassion and care in every health care setting.

National Nurses Week 2024 is an ideal time to reflect on the invaluable contributions of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) in nursing homes across the nation. Amidst the challenges and demands of healthcare in general, LPNs and RNs stand as pillars of care, enriching lives with their unwavering dedication and compassionate commitment to their patients and the nursing profession.

LPNs and RNs serve as the backbone of nursing homes, providing essential medical care, emotional support, and advocacy for their residents. They are often the first line of defense in ensuring the well-being and comfort of those in their care. From administering medications to coordinating complex treatment plans, LPNs and RNs exhibit proficiency and expertise that are critical to the health and safety of their patients.

LPNs and RNs forge deep connections with their residents, becoming trusted allies and confidants. They not only attend to the physical needs of individuals but also offer companionship and a listening ear, fostering a sense of community and belonging within the nursing home environment. Through their kindness and empathy, LPNs and RNs brighten the lives of those they serve, making each day more meaningful and fulfilling.

Nurses work tirelessly on the front lines to protect the vulnerable populations under their care. Their selflessness and sacrifice serve as a testament to their unwavering commitment to the well-being of others, and in the Florence Nightingale tradition, embodying the true spirit of nursing.

On behalf of the iCare Health Network and as we celebrate 25 years of service, we all thank iCare’s nurses and nurses everywhere for your dedication and commitment to the nursing profession and in particular in sharing your passion and talent that impacts patients, their families and your peers every day! We honor our nursing staff and the dedication to quality care that they show every day and indeed to nurses everywhere.
