HARTFORD (November 6, 2023) – On October 31, 2023, the team at Parkville Care Center celebrated and recognized Maria Parks for her 37 years of service to the residents of Parkville, stretching back to when it was Park Place and before that, Greenwood Manor.
Maria is an LPN Charge Nurse who is beloved by staff and residents and was a mentor to new nurses. She was present for the Greenwood fire in 2003 and spoke this year at the 20th anniversary remembrance ceremony. Maria’s retirement party included many emotional moments as the staff took turns sharing their sentiments and memories with her, many in Halloween costumes. Her family and past employees of the care center attended as well.
She was presented with plaques, gifts and a cake. One plaque reads:
“A nurse is not what you do. It is what you are. I am a nurse. It’s not what I do, it’s who I am.” In recognition from Parkville Care Center. Congratulations and best wishes.
Employee longevity is a great testament to a quality workplace and a commitment to the teamwork needed to serve every day.
