  • The staff and residents of Touchpoints at Bloomfield had an outstanding time dunking the “shark”, Administrator Jaime Faucher. Staff and residents participated in throwing the bean bags into the sharks mouth. If they hit the target Jaime the Shark was “dunked” with very cold water by Recreation Director Cindy Payne. The week included a visit from a shark expert who spoke on a shark’s day to day life, made shark teeth necklaces and of course watched the popular 1970’s film Jaws.  
  • Three veterans who are current residents at Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden took part in an equine therapy program through Manes and Motions, a Therapeutic Riding Center operated by Hospital for Special Care in New Britain. According to the Manes website, “riding a horse gives you freedom and empowerment through movement. A horse can be a powerful motivator in reviewing or reinforcing many behavioral, physical, mental, social and emotional goals.”
  • On August 10, 2019, staff and their families represented iCare at the 2019 West Indian Independence Celebration and Parade in Hartford. The iCare team marched in the parade from Main and Battles Street, ending in Bushnell Park, decked out in matching t-shirts with a One Love theme.  
  • Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden celebrated four staff members for their extraordinary longevity with and dedication to the care center and its residents.  The team presented each with a gift and flowers. Lunch was served. Employee longevity is a great testament to a quality workplace and a commitment to the teamwork needed to serve every day. 
  • On Friday July 12th, 60 West, in conjunction with Beacon Hospice, celebrated the wedding of resident Charles to his long time partner, Libby. The wedding ceremony was held on the care center’s serene patio among family and friends of the bride and groom and was followed by a reception catered by 60 West Food Service Director Jim Scott with live music by David Allen Rivera. The menu included a variety of favorites like Jim’s mac and cheese bites and famous chicken wings.
