On October 31, 2023, the team at Parkville Care Center celebrated and recognized Maria Parks for her 37 years of service to the residents of Parkville, stretching back to when it was Park Place and before that, Greenwood Manor.  Maria is an LPN Charge Nurse who is beloved by staff and residents and was a mentor to new nurses. On Saturday, October 28, 2023 a team from Parkville Care Center took part in the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s - Greater Hartford and raised over $1000 for advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. The walk took place at Rentschler Field and according to the Alzheimer’s Association website in total had over 1,300 participants in 275 teams and raised $300,000 towards their goal.  Great job, Parkville team!

On October 8, 2023, staff and their families from iCare’s Parkville Care Center and Trinity Hill Care Center represented iCare Health Network in celebrating the 2023 Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival del Coqui. As they did in 2019 and again in 2022, the iCare team marched in the parade from Wawarme Avenue, ending in Bushnell Park, decked out in matching t-shirts and regalia and accompanied by decorated Jeeps. 

On February 24, 2023 Parkville Care Center and the iCare Health Network team held a Remembrance Ceremony to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Greenwood Nursing Home Fire.  On February 26, 2003 a fire broke out at the then Greenwood Nursing Home at 2:40 AM. Eventually traced back to a resident room, the fire claimed the lives of 16 and injured an additional 23 people. Parkville Care Center was in the holiday spirit this year with festive attire all month long. The month of December was full of special outfit and attire days like Cozy Toes, Silver Bells, Winter Wonderland, Rudolph Red Wear, Jolly Jeans and more.  Santa came to visit the residents, passing out gifts to all. Meanwhile staff enjoyed a tasty holiday lunch with music, raffles and plenty of merriment!  Now dash away all!
